How to harmonize digestion with constipation

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) understands constipation as a result of an imbalance in the large intestine meridian, a deficiency of fluids or blood, stagnation of Qi, or an excess of heat. The key is to restore bowel movement and moisten the intestinal lining.

1. Start your morning with warm water and honey

This simple habit moisturizes the mucous membranes and kick-starts peristalsis.

2. Eliminate drying foods

Avoid pastries, raw fruit, and excessive fiber without sufficient fluids. Prefer steamed vegetables and congee.

3. Support Spleen Qi

Enjoy porridges made from millet, rice, or Job's tears. These foods strengthen the Spleen, which governs transportation and transformation.

4. Abdominal massage and acupressure

Massage the abdominal area clockwise. Stimulation of point ST25 (Tianshu) helps move stagnation.

5. Herbs and teas

Chamomile, fennel, or fresh ginger tea promote bowel movement and relieve tension.
