Broth as Medicine - The Power of Broths in Chinese Medicine
Share
In TCM, broth is not only food, but also a healing tool for strengthening Qi, blood and essence. Broths are especially recommended for exhaustion, convalescence, loss of appetite, and chronic weakness.
1. Grain broths
Millet, buckwheat, or Job's tears – simmered for a long time in water – nourish the spleen, calm the stomach, and promote peristalsis.
2. Bone broth
Strongly strengthens the kidneys and Jing essence. Especially suitable for seniors, children, and women after childbirth.
3. Mushroom broths
Shiitake, Wood Ear, or Reishi support immunity, remove phlegm, and supplement Yin.
4. Vegetable broths
Ideal during periods of cleansing. They are light, yet harmonize the spleen and lymphatic system.
